The Vietnam Immigration Department doesn’t work on Saturday, Sunday and Vietnam National Holidays. Only urgent cases are considered to grant visa on these days, but the price is much higher than normal process. That is the reason why you should pay attention to these off days to make sure you can obtain a visa in the easiest way.

Which Days is off days of the Vietnam Immigration Department?

1. Weekends

In Vietnam, Government offices usually don’t work on weekend. The Immigration Department, which issue visa for foreigners is the same. They are off on Saturday and Sunday every week. Only urgent cases are considered to get visa at the weekend. Therefore, if you have plan to get visa to Vietnam, you should apply in advance and avoid to apply at the weekend (the weekends price will be higher than the weekdays one).

2. National Holidays

Besides Saturday and Sunday every week, there are 5 Vietnam National Holidays you need to pay attention to. The National Holidays off 2019 are already informed, and you should avoid these National holidays period.

In the National holidays, the Vietnam Immigration Department will not work. Only urgent cases are considered. If you apply visa on the period of National Holidays, the price will be much high.

2.1/ New Year

New year is the first day of a new year, 1 January 2019. It is also a national holiday in Vietnam, and people all around the country will be off on 1 January. Combining with Saturday, Sunday and the day before New year day, day off for New Year 2019 will be 4 days in total.

Vietnam Immigration Department will be off 4 days in total in New Year 2019, from Saturday 29 December, 2018 to Tuesday 1 January, 2019.

2.2/ Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year (or Tet holiday) is the biggest and longest holiday in Vietnam. It is the traditional new year in Vietnam. In this period of time, people come back to home town, enjoying the traditional holiday with their family, relatives and friends.

The Immigration Department will be off 9 days in total in Lunar New Year 2019 (Tet festival), from Saturday 02 February to Sunday 10 February, 2019.

2.3/ Hung Kings Commemorations

This holiday is about honoring ancestors and the founders of Vietnam – Hung King.

The Immigration Department will be off 3 days in total in Hung Kings Commemorations, from Saturday 13 April to Monday 15 April, 2019.

2.4/ Reunification Day and International Labor Day

This is the second longest holiday in Vietnam because it combines two Holidays together. Reunification Day in Vietnam is a public holiday that celebrates the reunion of North and South Vietnam. International Labor Day in Vietnam is a holiday that recognizes workers in Vietnam and across the entire globe.

The Vietnam Immigration Department will be off 5 days in total in this holiday, from Saturday 27 April to Wednesday 01 May, 2019.

2.5/ National Day

National Day in Vietnam falls every September 2nd and commemorates the day when Vietnam declared its independence from France at the end of World War II.

The Immigration Department will be off 3 days in total in National Day, from Saturday 31 August to Monday 02 September, 2019.
