My flight is transited via Vietnamese airport, but is it two separate airlines. It is not on the same ticket. I am guessing I can get my luggage from the one airline and check in my luggage onto a different airline all without going through passport control? Do I need the visa in this case?
Answer:
The luggage counter is where you will come after doing the immigration check (at passport control counter). It means that you need a visa to enter Vietnam to get your luggage then exit again. You should note:
1/ If your flight is connecting flight (the same airlines or the 2 airlines have the coorperation), you should ask them for check through your luggage. It means your luggage will be transfered from flight 1 to flight 2 by the airlines, you do not need to do anything. In this case, you do not need a visa to enter Vietnam.
2/ If your flight is 2 separate airlines. It means your luggage cannot be transfered from flight 1 to flight 2 by the airlines, you need to get your luggage by yourself. In this case, you need a visa to enter Vietnam.
