I’m An American Citizen, I’m Going To Stay In Vietnam For More Than 3 Months With Business Purpose (Maybe Six Months Or 1-Year). Is It Possible? What Type Of Visa Should I Apply For?

As a few years ago, you can just apply for Visa On Arrival to stay in Vietnam for not more than 3 months with multiple entry. In long term visa for 6 months or 12 months, you need to go to the Vietnam embassy or consulate to complete many required documents to get the visa.

Recently, Visa On Arrival has been accepted to stay in Vietnam for 3-months, 6-months or even 12-months with business or tourism purpose. Vietnamese government allows American citizens to be able to apply it online.

Besides providing some personal information while filling in the online application, you also need to show the travel agencies your passport, the confirmation of your purpose in this visit, the date of arrival and port of entry. Then, you just need to do other steps to get the visa stamp at Vietnam airport.

Step 1: Apply online to get the approval letter

Step 2: Receive the letter through email and print it out

Step 3: Submit this letter + passport + entry and exit date to get visa on arrival when landing the airport

Step 4: Receive visa and enter Vietnam

Take note:

  • With Visa On Arrival, you can just enter Vietnam through 6 international airports.
  • It is possible to extend to stay longer if your plan is changed.
