Vietnam has 5 public holidays per year. If you come to Vietnam on these holidays, you can join in the traditional festival with local people. However, most offices, banks, schools, government departments, etc are closed, and some services are limited in these periods.   1. New Year

New year is the first day of a new year, 1 January 2019. It is also a national holiday in Vietnam, and people all around the country will be off on 1 January. Combining with Saturday, Sunday and the day before New year day, day off for New Year 2019 will be 4 days in total.

It will be off 4 days in total in New Year 2019, from Saturday 29 December, 2018 to Tuesday 1 January, 2019.

  1. Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year (or Tet holiday) is the biggest and longest holiday in Vietnam. It is the traditional new year in Vietnam. In this period of time, people come back to home town, enjoying the traditional holiday with their family, relatives and friends.

It will be off 9 days in total in Lunar New Year 2019 (Tet festival), from Saturday 02 February to Sunday 10 February, 2019.

  1. Hung Kings Commemorations

This holiday is about honoring ancestors and the founders of Vietnam – Hung King.

It will be off 3 days in total in Hung Kings Commemorations, from Saturday 13 April to Monday 15 April, 2019.

  1. Reunification Day and International Labor Day

This is the second longest holiday in Vietnam because it combines two Holidays together. Reunification Day in Vietnam is a public holiday that celebrates the reunion of North and South Vietnam. International Labor Day in Vietnam is a holiday that recognizes workers in Vietnam and across the entire globe.

It will be off 5 days in total in this holiday, from Saturday 27 April to Wednesday 01 May, 2019.

  1. National Day

National Day in Vietnam falls every September 2nd and commemorates the day when Vietnam declared its independence from France at the end of World War II.

It will be off 3 days in total in National Day, from Saturday 31 August to Monday 02 September, 2019.
